about

[Aer] for 10 trombones - by joshua carro was composed on 3/24/22.

Commissioned, performed, and recorded by Dalton Harris (Bremen, Germany)

Photography: Dalton Harris
Mixing and Mastering: joshua carro
Recording Engineer: Robert Bosch

the idea of this piece was to have a progression of sonic landscapes that evolved from themselves. creating an unpredictable (but accurate) representation of a sonic personality.

If you listen closely to this work, you can hear that each section is a possible extension of its preceding rehearsal number. a possible evolution from the fundamental idea/sound palette which starts the work.

being that the trombone has a natural harmonic tuning, even when asked to play 'out of bounds' or make noise, all of the sounds are still within the harmonic range/content of possibilities from the instrument's acoustics. everything becomes 'in tune' and seems to have an identity.
